Michele’s Why -

The children! I have dedicated my life to raising children—both my own five children and the many young learners in our community. With a passion for guiding, nurturing, and teaching, I strive to create a supportive and enriching environment for every child.

I am active in our community. I have been a life long volunteer is sports, fine arts, and student council.

I saw a great need to educate our community on the fentanyl epidemic, due to the lack of drug education, prevention, and knowledge of how deadly it was.

I knew four years ago that I was needed to bring my knowledge, my experience and my passion to the school board.

I offer my respect, collaboration, and perspective to the conversation.

I listen, I engage, and think outside the box.

I am Reliable, Resourceful, Ready, and Real. I am excited to serve you all again for a second term.

What’s Important To Me?

  1. Student and Staff Safety and Security. As times change, we are seeing an alarming escalation in negative student behaviors, making it crucial to address these challenges and ensure a safe environment for everyone.

    • We must address the reality that all schools face issues with drugs, whether it's marijuana, vaping, alcohol, or illegal substances. None of our students are of legal age to consume any of these.

  2. Student Behavior in the Classroom. I hear the concerns from countless teachers and staff about the challenges they’re facing in the classroom. It’s essential that we evaluate current policies to identify where adjustments can be made to better protect both staff and students.

  3. Transparency and Fiscal Responsibility. When I was first elected and we hired the Superintendent, our financial practices were outdated, and our policies were in need of significant revision. Four years later, we've made tremendous progress—our district has not only grown its ending fund balance but is now in a stronger fiscal position than many of our neighboring districts.

Additionally, we’ve improved transparency among board members, staff, and the community. While this progress is commendable, there is always room for further improvement.

Keep The Momentum Going!

Collaboration. Progress. Leadership.

The work we’ve done has made us a strong and effective board, recognized by both our district and our community. Despite our diverse perspectives, experiences, and goals, we collaborate, respect each other’s beliefs and visions, and maintain a professional and constructive approach in all we do. We need to keep advancing the progress we’ve made and build on our successes.

Ahead of the curve on Drug Policies

Michele played a key role in approving a new policy to implement Narcan kits across the district—a lifesaving treatment for opioid overdoses. She also led prevention and education efforts before it became a legislative mandate, proactively informing parents about the dangers of counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl.

Approval of 2025 Bond

Contributed to the development and approval of the 2025 Bond to enhance six elementary schools in Oregon City. This initiative significantly improves safety and accessibility by implementing new access controls, security, updating restrooms, replacing roofs, upgrading heating and cooling systems, new classroom furnishing and many various other enhancements—all designed to benefit our students, faculty, and staff.
